#278, 30.5' x 10'- Pilot
Lineage:
This was the first of our efforts at a dedicated pilot boat design, and was by Viking Welding for service in Glouceser, MA. The hull is also a natural for law-enforcement and small support vessel applications. With an 18 degree transom deadrise and our usual steep forward sections, the topsides forward sections were tweaked with extensive owner input to attend to the spray and wash issues that are unique to coming alongside a large ship. Further, oversized vertical rub strakes were incorporated into the topsides to accommodate the customer-selected 9" half round fendering system. Other unusual features include extra large fuel capacity (400 gallons) due to fuel availability issues.
